Seniors 9x3 and 9x2 August 13th 2020

Another scorcher today and the weather wasn't bad either! 38 senior members took part and the banter began to flow from the first tee. The cards came in and a number of tail-enders enjoyed a pint, with sensible distancing, on the terrace afterwards. Eight four-ball groups had only 10 points between them, ranging from 88 to 98. We also had two three-balls who faced their own separate battle. A number of players scored 30 points plus, but of note - Alan Barnsdale (37 points) and Senior Captain Barry Dare posted 40 points with 24 on the back 9.

(9x3) plus (9x2) Result:

Four-balls

First: Don Wraight, Dave Jones, Tony Owens, Mike Turner   (98 points)   -   £5.00 each

Second: Graham Bryne, Keith Hawthorn, Dave Fergus, Bill Kelleher   (97 points)     -    £3.00 each

Three-balls

First: Barry Dare, Ken Tieszen, Neville Bassett     (87 points)     -     £2.00 each

Next Week: Many of you know already about Clays club entries into the Priors Hayes Senior Open. In effect, it is taking 36 members away from Clays including me. I am opening up my e-mail communication between now and Monday mid-day, if you are not involved in the Open and wish to come down to Clays for a Kitty Comp, which I will organise and leave set-up for you. The numbers will obviously be low and to be fair to management, we will have to surrender the later tees so please get back to me asap if you wish to partake. The Comp will be run in three-balls (to be decided).

One more thing of note - you probably realised after last night's incorrect Starter sheet that e-mails alone are swamping me, so Steve Monk has kindly offered to take over the money management side. He will deduct £1.00 for every entry and add whatever prize money is announced after the results are published. Again all monies will be resolved (in envelopes) at the very first opportunity of us getting back together again.

Today - we managed to get there despite (initially) the wrong Starter sheet - well done again and see you next week.
