Seniors 9x3 plus 9x2 August 30th 2018

Today's kitty competition was a '9 x 3' plus '9 x 2' format. 41 players were present and they played in 3 teams of 3 and 8 teams of 4.

The weather was perfect for golf and the course was in very good condition.

Results were as follows.

3-ball teams:

1st - Don Wraight, Bob Brown and Bob Shotton with 90 stableford points.

4-ball teams:

1st - Andy Mitchell, Dave Palferman, Alan Bottomley and Peter Fraser with 105 points.

2nd - Roy Jordan, Cliff Davies, Colin Evans and Irwin Elkin with 98 points (on countback).

Seniors Individual Stableford Qualifier August 28th 2018

49 players attended today to play an individual stableford kitty comp 'qualifier'. Results were as follows.

1st - Damian Atkin with 40 points. Well done Damian

2nd - Mike Healy with 39 points.

3rd - Dave F Jones with 39 points.

4th - Stuart Leyland with 39 points.

5th - Colin Brown with 38 points.

6th - Mike Turner with 38 points.

7th - Neville Bassett with 38 points.

8th - Richard Key with 37 points.

Lovely warm day for this event which was marked by a hole in one by Mike Turner. He accomplished his ace on the 2nd hole using a 7 iron. This was Mike's 2nd ace of his golfing career having had one before on the 5th at Clays. Mike carded a 4+ today. Picture below of Mike picking his ball out of the hole

Don Wraight our Seniors Captain took the opportunity today  to present prizes for the Clays Seniors Open.

Stableford both scores counting August 16th 2018 including news about defibrillator

2nd Martin Povey and Damian Atkin   71pts

3rd Stuart Leyland and Mike Hollings   69pts

4th Dave Jones and Nigel Davies   68pts (countback) 

5th Neville Bassett and Bob Jarvis  68pts

The only 2 today was scored by Jon Falcus on the 12th. 

Nigel also passed on some information arising from the recent defibrillator test. The recommendation is that, in the event of an emergency, before calling for the defibrillator, we should dial 112 rather than 999 from a smartphone as the emergency services would then be able to trace your exact location via GPS.

35 competitors split into 5 teams of 3 and 5 teams of 4.

Very pleasant day in excellent conditions! Unfortunately, Clays were beaten 6-3. However, there were 2's for Dave Palferman, Mike Hollings, and Chris Jacques.

Clays Seniors Open August 9th 2018

132 players played today in glorious conditions. Well done to Mark and his green staff for putting the course in great condition.

Hayley had a great day in the kitchen and was kept very busy with food orders. She only finished as I was leaving at 7 tonight. Her chicken curry was superb.
