Seniors Yellow Ball competition March 27th 2014

A large number of Seniors turned out for this competition held over 18 holes.
Teams of 3 and 4 competed...

St Patricks Day March 20th 2014

March 20^th Clays Seniors St Patrick’s Day competition. This annual event attracted 52 Seniors. The event incorporated the Ray Mortell Trophy awarded to the competitor with the best individual stableford score. The competition was teams of 4 with the best 3 scores to count. Despite some very windy and cold conditions some excellent scores were carded. One Guest member, Ken Davies, carded the ONLY 2 of the day. Sincere thanks must go to Don Wraight for organising the event. He was assisted on the day by CLiff Lloyd the Seniors Treasurer who did valuable work in buying the "liquid prizes" !!

Results as follows.

Winner of Ray Mortell Trophy was Maelor Davies with 39 points even though he was not in any of the winning teams.

Seniors Texas scramble March 11th 2014

As the weather was glorious with endless sunshine it obviously attracted a large number of Seniors along with some new members. In total 52 enjoyed a great event. Although not in the winners Don Wraight had a birdie 3 at the 7th hole. Although all members of teams are supposed to contribute (?) to each hole Don did it all on his own...driver, 6 iron onto green to within 15 feet and then went on the sink the very difficult putt! He hardly played a bad shot today apart from his drive on the 18th...ah well..that's golf!
Results as follows:-

First with a score of 55.6 Barry Dare, Keith Jones, Harold Hughes and Malcolm Williams
Second with a score of 57.3 Geoff Morris, Steve Monk, Tony Harcombe and M Griffiths
Third with a score of 58.1 Bill Parrish, Phil Morris, William Parry and Ian Ketland.

Seniors home match vs Holywell plus Seniors Stableford March 4th 2014

March 4^th Seniors match vs Holywell at Clays. The match was a narrow win for Clays 5.5-4.5
Twos recorded by three Holywell golfers Tom Collins, Bernie Welsh and Barry Hickman.
Also by two from Clays, Irwin Elkin and Keith Jones
 

Other Seniors not playing in the match had an individual stableford competition over 16 holes

1.       Geoff Morris  35 pts. This was an excellent score considering Geoff, who is 80 years old has not been playing much golf since his surprise 80^th birthday party …..well done Geoff
