Seniors pairs both scores to count April 26th 2018

All 18 holes open today; just the 2nd on a temporary green. Good weather today too with only an occasional stiff breeze to contend with.
30 players competed in a 'pairs, both scores to count' kitty competition. Results were:
1st - Stewart Poole and Steve Monk with 64 points.
2nd - Mike Drake and Tony Jackson with 57 points
3rd - Fred Court and David Lloyd with 56 points.
4th - Brian Downes and Graham Bryne with 55 points (on countback).

Competition Format:
Singles Stroke Play competition played over 17 holes per round. Handicap allowance: 17/18 of 'Full allowance'. Mixed Tee Competition: When separate tees are in use, the number of strokes received by some players is adjusted to allow for the differences in the course played. These adjustments are for competition ranking purposes only.
Competition Scratch Score (CSS):
This Competition was non-qualifying for handicap purposes.
Countback calculations:
Countback is strokes taken over last nine holes, then over last six holes, then over last three holes and finally last hole score only (where applicable).
For Stroke Play competitions played off handicap, nett scores are shown (after deduction of appropriate proportion of handicap).

News from our Captain Don Wraight April 2018
Something for Clays news
Team of Mike Jones (capt) Steve Hart, Ian Connell, Don Wraight and Graham Davidson-Clarke representing Clays Golf Club played Church Stretton.
Weather was showery at Church Stretton and the course mountainous, a true test for all.
Clays were victorious winning the match 3/2

Ray Mortell Trophy April 17th 2018
Originally this was to be a qualifier but due to hole 2 being out of action and shortened holes on the 1st, 11th and 16th it was played as an ordinary stableford competition. What a miserable wet day it was with the rain being constant for the whole round!
There were 39 entrants. Results and photos below
Winning scores were as follows.
1st, and winner of the Ray Mortell Trophy, - Graham Bryne with 39 points. Below Graham receiving the trophy from Don Wraight, Clays Seniors Captain.
2nd - Mike Healey - 37 points.
3rd - Andrew Mitchell - 35 points.
4th - Jon Falcus - 34 points.
5th - Nigel Davies - 33 points (15 on back 9).
6th - Dave F Jones - 33 points (13 on back 9).
7th - Frank Rodenhurst - 32 points.
