January
25th 2017 A question raised
yesterday originates from a discussion over a members use of a two faced
chipper, which earns a disqualification for the offending
player.
The question was
“can a player repair a damaged club
during a round of golf”.
First and foremost with the exception of a putter golf
clubs shall have one face only.
The playing characteristics of a club must not be changed
purposely by adjustment or other means during a stipulated
round.
A club damaged in the normal course of play, the player
may without due delay [see rule
6.7], continue to play, repair or have it repaired, or if the club is unfit
for play, replace the damaged club with any club. Sheriff
