March 13th Seniors Annual Nearly St. Patricks Day
incorporating the Ray Mortell Trophy
This very popular event was this year mainly organised by
Peter Almond. The format was teams of 4 with each player’s stableford score being
added together. From all the results the senior with the highest individual
score won the Ray Mortell Trophy. This year this was won by Ray Martin with a splendid
individual score of 41 points which included 5 birdies. Colin Brown, Seniors
captain presented Ray with his trophy
The result for the Team event was as follows:-
Winners:- Eifion Jenkins, Stuart Miles, Bill Parry and
Derek Lyon with 133points. Each member was presented with a bottle of Irish
Whiskey by Colin Brown the senior’s captain. Eifion had a superb round himself
with 37pts and came second to Ray Martin
Second place went to Reg Taylor, Geoff Morris, Don Wraight
and Harold Hughes with 127points and each member presented with a bottle of a
well-known cream liquor.
The competitors all enjoyed a meal of Irish stew or chicken
followed by ice-cream and apple pie.
