Captains Charity Day September 10th 2011

 
On Saturday 10th September the Clays Captains Charity Day competition took place. This was a pairs betterball competition off three quarters handicap with a separate par 3 competition where both scores counted.
Nearest the pin on the fifth was Jack Roycroft.
Winners of the par 3 competion prize were Lawrence Highton and Rob Brown with 14 points.
In the main competition there was a consolation prize for the 'strongest' pairing from Llangollen who held up the rest of the field. Winners of the competition, with 45 points, were Bill Kelleher (13) and Keith Jones (17) with the runners-up on 44 points being Ricky Comber and Stu Woolrich.
Before the prize presentation, a promise of auctions was held which raised over £1000. This brought the total amount raised on the day for the nominated charities (Family Friends, Home Start and Cancer Research) to almost £3,000, and the total for the year to more than £4,200.
Captains Reg Peacock and Diane Dare thank all players, sponsors, donors and auction bidders for their contibution to making this such an enjoyable day, and so financially beneficial for their charities.
