Individual stableford FIRST Round of WINTER LEAGUE

Results as follows:-

1. Mike Goring 34pts  = 10 league points

Not a large number of Seniors took part today probably due to the severe winter conditions. The temperature remained around 0-2C for most of the morning although it did warm up for the latter part of the competition with lots of sunshine helping to melt the still present ice and snow as photos below show.

What is not shown is the tee shot by Derek Lyon where the ball landed in the pond and bounced off the ice and landed some 4 metres from the pin with a chance of a 2!! Needless to say he 3 putted for a 4!!

3 clubs and a putter competition December 23rd 2014

Despite the very windy weather about 24 Seniors competed. Thank goodness the rain held off. Amazing how such good scores are attained with only 3 clubs and a putter. If Colin had not had a no score on the 18th he would probably had about 40 pts with the way he played! Videos and photos below.

Please note his very wet bag as a result of being blown into a water filled bunker on the 9th!!

Seniors Xmas festivities December 16th 2014

This year as in the past the day started with a 9 hole Texas Scramble superbly organised by Don Wraight with teams stating at various tees throughout the course. He was ably assisted at registration by Cliff Lloyd who after obtaining all the various prizes was unable to play. Thank you Cliff for all your hard work. Looks like Bill below is having problems getting his money out?!!

Below another video this time of Reg Taylor on the 18th. He hit a very long drive which landed about 1 metre to the right of the Captains bunker. He ATTEMPTED to chip onto the green but landed in the bunker!! So Derek took a 7 iron to chip on to within 20 cm of the flag which meant the team got a birdie 3!

After the competition all the players along with several guests sat down to a lovely 3 course Xmas meal after which Colin Brown announced the various winners and presented prizes. The results as follows:-

Seniors Yellow Ball December 11th 2014

Played as teams of 3 and teams of 4

Winners of teams of 3 were Colin Brown, Irwin Elkin and Colin Williams with 131 pts

Winners of teams of 4 were John Davis (new Senior section member), Andrew Mitchell, Bob Brown and Keith Jones with 176pts

9 hole texas scramble followed by Seniors AGM December 9th 2014

On a very cold morning only some 28 Seniors played in the competition prior to the AGM at which 47 members attended

Results of the texas scramble as follows
Winners were Frank Rodenhurst, Ernie Williams and Noel Jones with 27
Runners up Paul White, Maelor Davies, Keith Jones and Peter Fraser 25.7

The AGM followed at 12.15 and lasted 80 minutes

It was the first time today that a Lady member joined the Seniors ranks and played..namely Di Dare who playing off an 18 handicap scored a very creditable 29 points. Below see Di teeing off on the 6th.

Pairs better ball kitty competition November 2nd 2014

 Quite a few hardened Seniors ventured out in the cold to partake. Flasks of hot OXO drinks were a      must!!
