Seniors stableford Betterball pairs

Gloomy day with only about 16 Seniors competing. Several other were taking part in various knock out competitions and no doubt other felt the weather would be bad?
Results:-
  1. Keith Jones & Derek Lyon 41pts on countback
  2. Bill Kelleher & Richard Key 41pts
  3. Dilly Jones & Neil Sanger 40pts
As usual the Seniors saw lots of wildlife and concerns were expressed about only 10 of the ducklings seen on the 17th. Appears one no longer with us? The 2 Canada goslings are still OK though. 2 woodpeckers were also seen on the 7th fairway.

First photo shows the 10? ducklings and mother

Seniors home event and away Competition at Arscott Golf Club May 15th 2014

While 40 or more members went to play at Arscott today, another 22 seniors turned up at Clays to play a Pairs Betterball Stableford in lovely warm weather. This was changed from the scheduled 9x2 + 9x3 comp because of the numbers. Winners were:

1. Irwin Elkin & Mike Kalka..................41 pts.

2. Bill Hughes & Steve Monk...............40 pts (19 on the back 9 holes).

3. Dennis Jones & Phil Morris.............40 pts (18 on the back 9 holes).

Information about Arscott below.
It was a warm, beautiful day with a long course in superb condition.

Below a view off the 17th tee towards the green. Last year in pouring rain this is where Derek let go of his club due to a very wet grip. The incident at the tinme was witnessed by Mike Turner!!

Seniors Gemini Competition played May 13th 2014

This event is played as pairs medal play with both scores combined to find the winners.

Results were : -
  1. Paul White and Nigel Davies with 148 on countback
  2. Don Wraight and Tony Jackson 148
  3. Ron Roberts and Tom McGrady 151
The day was warm and at times sunny interspersed with the odd shower. Many Seniors had a "bad day" with several having a double figure score on some holes! Derek is ashamed to say that he had an 11...yes an eleven on the 9th! I heard rumours of some players having as high as 13 on some holes!

Anyway apart from some bad scores a good time was had by all as usual. Alwyn Williams had a particularly good round with some excellent driving. He can be seen below driving off the 15th tee.

Down the 16th fairway the 2 Canada Geese were seen having lunch grazing the grass in the rough. If they have eggs on the Island they must have left them for a short while.
