March 29^th Seniors kitty competition. Format stableford. Teams of 4. On first 9 holes best 2 scores count and on back 9 best 3 scores count

1. Derek Lyon, Bob Shotton, Bill Duncan and Larry Birch 113pts. It is worthy of note that Larry Birch played and outstanding game and scored 47 pts himself

2. Rodney Evans, Enoch Smith, Roy Jones and Mike Griffiths 108pts

23 Seniors played away on the same day at Hawarden Gold Club but lost 7.5 matches to 2.5 matches

1. Bob Shotton 41pts off 14 handicap

2. Frank Carroll 41pts off 22 handicap

March 24^th Seniors Texas Scramble

Another beautiful day for golf

1. Stewart Poole, Den Horton, Brian Felgate and Nigel Moore 53.6 !!

2. Bill Parry, Mike Turner, Mike Hollings and Enoch Smith 58.4

3. Bob Shotton, Bill Kelleher and Brian Mercer 59.1

It is worthy of note that Stewart Poole on the winning team had a hole in one on the 17^th hole. Stewart took a 7 wood to complete his 2^nd ace in his golfing life. Well done Stewart and past results have shown him to be performing well at the moment!!

Seniors Nearly St Patricks Day on March 15^th

Format was teams of 4. Combined total of stableford Scores. The event also incorporated the Ray Mortell Trophy for the best individual winner

1. Stuart Poole, Keith Jones, Colin Brown and Bill Kelleher 141pts

2. Reg Taylor, Bill Hughes, Erwin Elkin and Frank Carroll 136pts

3. Bob Shotton, Mike Drake, Tom McGrady 133pts

Winners of 2’s were Noel Jones, Tony Harcombe, Rod Evans, Les Shoemark and Phil Hughes

Rod Evans also won nearest the pin on the 5^th hole. Ball was 5 foot from the pin

Winner of the Ray Mortell Trophy was Ron Pearson with 39pts

On the 8th hole Billy Duncan emulated Bernard Langer by playing his ball from a tree. The ball came to be found supported in a fir tree. Bill being the good guy that he is asked all around for a ruling. Answer was "play it as it lies". He did so and hit a rather good shot out and finished with a very creditable 5

March 17^th Seniors Pairs Betterball Stableford Kitty Competition

3. Tony Owens and Reg Taylor 42pts

On the same day the Seniors team played Mold away. Result was a win for Mold by 5.5 matches to 4.5. Better results at return fixture perhaps?
