NOT QUITE THE RYDER CUP VIA MIKE HEALEY

Seniors - My Not Quite the Ryder Cup (but near as damn it) list is complete and has been sent to the elected Captains for selection purposes over the weekend. Each side now has 27 playing members which breaks down into 13 pairs (and one singleton each), who will turn up for battle in a Pairs Betterball competition next Tuesday. Our two Captains have received the final list (attached) and they alone will select the pairings, informing me by noon on Monday. I have included handicaps for Captain's guidance only - they may well have changed interim but the correct handicaps will be checked on Tuesday. On Tuesday, I am asking all players to turn up before 8.30am, get ready for golf but more importantly, be ready for our annual Ryder Cup photograph at 8.30am on the dot. In the past following the photo, I have read out the draw in groups, which has used up too much time. The draw will be published on a number of sheets and passed round/placed on windows for all to see. This should speed up movement to the tees from the outset. I have asked Luke to forfeit his 8.40am tee, so that we have from 8.40am through to 11.00am, as we require 14 tees in total and as usual we are teeing from the 1st, 16th and 14th tees. As in previous years, the Wales team are expected to arrive in their traditional red colours and naturally, ROTW should arrive in blue please. Banter, singing and general mickey-taking is compulsory and should be encouraged throughout. At the end, it would help if one person could hand in a single card for the group (all 4 scores together with result), as well as your usual £1.00 competition fee. This will go towards a small but momentous prize for each and every one of the winning side. Should there be yet another tie/draw, then the prizes will be awarded to the winning pairs from each side. The cards will be prepared for you in advance. Hayley knows about numbers and a food sheet will be posted - don't forget to sign up if you require food. It would be great if as many as possible could remain for the result and presentation at the end. Finally, there are occasional problems and cry-offs, but hopefully it will not happen. I am still short of two Welsh players, who could be accommodated at this late stage. If for any reason anybody else cannot play - please ring or message me as soon as possible: 07716 527332 so that I can make arrangements / adjustments with either of the Captains. MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN - see you on Tuesday. Mike
