Match vs Henlle and kitty competition June 27th 2017


Fifteen brave Souls went out today in the kitty comp, despite the rain two senior members hit 40 points. There were 4 prizes today.

The report and photo kindly supplied by Cliff Evans. Derek turned up at 8.25am but decided to go home because of the rain!!

Bonus Ball June 22nd 2017

The summer hot spell came to an end today. It was very cool and later poured down!


Thank you Cliff Evans for supplying all the results and photos as Derek was out on the course being thrashed in the pairs knock out...no names being mentioned...just look on the Seniors notice board!!

Due to quite a number of our seniors catching up with their Knock Outs   21 played in the kitty comp (Bonus Ball) 
  1st  place on countback   Andy Mitchell, Bob Jarvis, Tom Pierce with a score of 126 points

  2nd Don Wraight, Colin Brown, Cliff Evans with 126 points

  3rd  Tony Jackson Martin Povey, Barry Evans with 124 points

Seniors Memorial Trophy June 20th 2017

This annual event was a stableford Qualifier off the yellow tees.
The weather was about 27C and very humid. Seniors Captain Nigel Davies reminded everyone to ensure they had adequate water on board for their rounds.
The course was in excellent condition and the greens much faster than off late.

Prior to the announcement of the results Nigel asked all present to stand for a minutes silence to honour all deceased Senior members.

Clays Seniors Devon Trip June 2017


Once more a large number of Seniors went for their annual pilgrimage to Devon.The event was organised by Fred Court who kindly sent me the following results. Hopefully members will supply me with suitable photos.

Texas Scramble June 15th 2017


We had 25 playing this morning in the Texas Scramble in 3rd place just out of the prizes with a score of 60.7 Dave Jones, Phil Morris, Graham Stokes and Mike Kalka.   In 2nd place with a team of three players and in the prizes scoring 60.5 Bill Hughes, Harold Hughes and Bill Kelleher  and the winners of the day scoring 60.3 Phil Hughes, Cliff Davies, Ian Ketland, and Chris Jacques.

Many seniors were still away in sunny Devon and other played in various knock out matches at home.

Best 3 scores from 4 stableford June 13th 2017


As 24 Seniors were on their annual Devon trip 32 remaining members played this best 3 scores from 4 event in warm and humid weather.

Results as follows:

1. Bill Kelleher, Maelor Davies, Barry Evans and Roy Jones  112 points.


2. Dilly Jones, Ron Roberts, Tony Owens and Chris Jaques  108 points

There were 2 winners in the 2's competition namely Tony Owens and Malcolm Williams both carding their 2's on the second hole.

Pairs betterball June 8th 2017


With the weather forecast having been bad I think many members opened their curtains and decided to stop at home?

At the club those playing experienced wet weather and a miserable June day.....brollies and wet gear ruled!

Results as follows;-

1. Steve Monk and Mike Drake  44 points

2. Cliff Evans and Tony Harcombe  43 points

3. Ernie Williams and Harold Hughes  42 points

In the 2's event there were 3 winners - Tony Harcombe on the 12th, Tom McGrady on the 5th and Andrew Mitchell on the 2nd

A large number of Clays Seniors played in the above pairs betterball event and 7 played in a kitty competition at home but no results for this are known.

At Shrewsbury the Clays members results are as follows:-
