Away match vs Hawarden

Seniors - 16 of our troops made the journey over to Hawarden GC this morning. A cool start eventually saw a bit of sunshine and warmer conditions. The away greens had been tyned and sanded but putting was not bad at all. Sadly, I have to report that the home team were conquerers on the day by 5 matches to 3 ( quite unusual for Clays to be on the losing side ). Although we like to (and usually do) win, I believe we all enjoyed the company that we kept throughout, some good golf and and a follow up meal afterwards. The Hawarden players are a friendly bunch and we finished thank yous by promising home and away matches next year. There was a ballsweep and the following players received a sleeve of balls: Kev Taylor (HGC) - 2nd, Andy McDougall (Clays) - 11th, Ian Dyment (HGC) - 14th and Dave Knott (HGC) - 18th. There was also the ubiquitous raffle for two bottles of wine which were won by Ian Jones (Clays) and Nigel Crossley (HGC). All in all - a good day. Thank you Malcolm for the organisation.
