Clays Seniors Open August 21st 2014

A large number of competitors competed today and all results are posted below. Many thanks to all concerned in making the day so enjoyable.

2's were recorded by Ken Evans, Dave Roberts, Keith Jones, Bill Kelleher, Ernie Williams and Ken Davies.

Colin Brown, Seniors Captain had an interesting 2nd shot on the 18th. Being the "big hitter" he is his drive landed high up on the far bank in "ground under repair"....hence he dropped out and played down onto the centre of the fairway. From there he managed his next shot into the "Captains Bunker" leaving his playing partner Derek Lyon to score a 4 on the hole!

 

Seniors Texas Scramble August 19th 2014

After a wet start competitors managed to begin and only suffered the odd shower

2. Mike Goring, Peter Fraser, Bill Hughes and Dave Roberts  59.6

3. Don Wraight, Ernie Williams (Club Captain) Geoff Morris and Paul White 60.5

A large number of Seniors competed today and results below. Also today in the singles knock out semi final Efion Jenkins beat Colin Brown ( Seniors Captain) with a long putt on the 18th! Well done Eifion and very hard luck Colin.

Bill Parrish (handicap 20) had two 2's today - one on the 5th and the other one on the 12th. Other 2's carded were

Derek Lyon had a poor round apart from a very interesting last hole. His drive went up in the air and landed about 50 yards in front of the tee. Second shot an 8 iron to middle of Fairway. 3rd shot a "shank" into rough on right side of fairway followed by a long chip with a 7 iron into the hole!
Ernie Williams (Captain) playing alongside Derek and Bill had a more conventional par on the last hole as the video below shows! Bill finished with a 5 though.

Clays Seniors Medal August 7th 2014

August 5th 2014 kitty stablefod competition plus news about Pryors Hayes Seniors Open

At home those members not playing at Pryors Hayes seniors Open played a stableford pairs betterball competition with results as follows:-

3rd        Mike Griffiths & John Hughes                  42 points

 

A large number of Clays Seniors played at Pryors Hayes where format was pairs betterball off 3/4 handicaps. Derek Lyon and Colin Brown were the best placed pair from Clays with 35 points.

On the par 4 first hole Don Wraight had a birdie

 

On the long par 5 second hole Colin Brown had a birdie after his fantastic 3rd shot stopped only 1 foot from the hole. Mind you Ron had a great par after his putt from off the green. Both putts can be viewed in the video below.

 

Tom McGrady won the nearest the pin prize on the 14^th at Pryors Hayes  and Tony Harcombe presented him with a prize which was a £20 voucher to be redeemed at their pro shop.

Senior Open at Rhuddlan July 24th 2014

As usual a large number of Clays Seniors competed in this popular event. Format was pairs betterball stableford off 3/4 handicaps. The weather was very hot with the temperature being between 29-30C!

Seniors 2 day challenge competition held on July 15th and 17th 2014

This is a new competition which started for the first time this year. Format was stableford over 2 days.

The winner in Division one was Tony Harcombe  32+38 = 70

Runner up was Tony Owens 35+34 = 69

The winner in Division two was Malcolm Williams  37+36 = 73

The runner up was Tom McGrady 42+26 = 68. Just a great shame Tom could not produce the same form on the 2nd day as he did on the first

The Captains Day competition was followed by a highly successful evening attended by about 120 people. An excellent hot buffet was supplied by the catering manager Diana and her team after the prize presentation. After eating, great live entertainment was provided by the acoustic guitar duo The Arthur Nelly Acoustic Club which was very well received. A great evening was enjoyed by everyone, particularly the Captains Ernie Williams and Pauline Peacock. Some photos of the day below.
