On the same day the Seniors team played an away match at Henlle and lost  6-4 but 4 of the matches that went to Henlle were won on the final hole. WELL DONE lads!!

On the same Day, June 23^rd, the seniors team played an interclub match against Ellesmere Port. The result was a win for Clays 8 ½ Ellesmere  Port 3 ½ Stewart Poole, Clays Seniors Match organiser had an ace at the par 3  133 yard 5^th hole. This was his 2^nd ace in 2 months!! He played a 7 iron to attain this ace!!

Maelor Davies, Peter Fraser and Mike Hollins from Clays- all recorded 2’s as well

Seniors Annual Devon trip results

22 Clays Seniors with two guests made their 11th appearance at Okehampton to defend the Ramnee Trophy.

The competition "Accumulated Stableford" score over four days on different courses, an "on form" Bill Kelleher came in with a top score on three of the four days winning overall with 142 followed by Rodney Evans on 136, Clive Davies on 128;

The Forrest Trophy, played within the Ramnee required putting out on each hole to achieve the "Best Nett" score on any of the four days could not be won by the Ramnee winner leaving Bill Kelleher's nett 66 void, thus Nigel Moore’s 67 a winner on count back to Clive Davies 67 and Irwin Elkin on 69.

The 28 !!! trophy intended to embarrass 28 handicappers originally intended to highlight 28 handicappers paring a hole where they receive two shots" is accumulated best stableford score on any four holes over the four days. This year was picked up by 11 handicapper Clive Davies.

6 members not wearing a tie at the presentation made  donations to Captains charity. This raised £30.00.

With most Seniors playing in various knock out competition to day May 31st only 25 members competed in a Texas Scramble event. The winning team was Ernie Williams, Maelor Davies & Mike Hollings with 61.1

On the same day the Seniors played Wrexham seniors in a match at Clays. The result was a win for Clays by 5.5 matches to 4.5. David L. Robert s of Wrexham had an ace at the 17th!

On Sunday May 8th the second weekend Captains mixed competition of the year was held at Clays. Despite the occasional heavy rain shower, an enjoyable time was had by all 22 competitors and was followed by a presentation of wine to the winners.

In the team competition the winners were Shirley Roberts and Graham Davidson-Clarke with Annie Lee (Lady VC) and Irwin Elkin finishing as runners-up.

Best ladies score (34 points) was returned by Annie Lee but, as she had also won a prize in the team competition, her prize was presented to Lady Captain (Diane Dare) who returned the second best score of 32 points on countback from Anne Richards.

Best men’s score (38 points) was returned by Graham Davidson-Clarke but again, as he had also won a team prize, his prize was presented to Mike Hollings who returned the second best score (34 points on countback from Irwin Elkin).

Further mixed competitions to be arranged throughout the summer.
