PUTTING COMPETITION RESULTS FROM STUART MILES . THURSDAY MARCH 28TH 2024

Well another day of no golf, but 9 seniors turned up for the alternative indoor putting. Usual format with the winners as follows. 4 rounds of normal course; 1st Mick Carnell with an excellent 40 putts. 2nd Barry Evans. Longest putt. Stuart Miles. Obstacle Putt. Eric Thwaites. All retired to the bar for coffee and Hayleys lovely sarnies and convivial conversation with Barry keeping us amused with one of his tales as an insurance rep. Just a clarification for Tuesday's Peril Ball. One person raised a good point regarding the definition of lost ball. May be other rules but my understanding and the way we will play it on Tuesday is as follows: For example, the yellow ball holder sends his tee shot out of bounds to the left down the road on the third. He can play 3 off the tee but his score entered on the scorecard (if he scores )is only what he scores with the penalty stroke and NOT DOUBLE. Also when it comes to his turn for the yellow ball again he can score but cannot double his score, he has lost that right by losing his ball for the rest of the game. Also when the player has the yellow ball but loses the right to double his score, his score has to go on the card together with one other person, you cannot use someone else's score which could be higher than the person who has the yellow ball at the time. We will still be playing the long grass rule, so if the yellow ball holder sends it into the long stuff, then the usual rule of agreeing where it landed and playing another with no loss of shot will apply. Hope this clarifies the game a bit more, any other queries we will sort out Tuesday. Here's hoping to see you all Tuesday with decent weather and a dryish course, could our Captain please bring back some sunshine with him
