Scores are generally low which indicates the difficulty of the course mainly due to leaves everywhere. Many lost balls today!!

35 played in the 2's with three achieving a two -  all on the fifth hole   Rob Jarvis, Don Wraight,and Mike Kalka. Mike having a run of luck at the moment!

Pairs Betterball stableford over 17 holes October 25th 2016

It was good to see 3 of our Lady members playing today.
Today the 2nd hole was till out of action.

Mike Kalka was only player with a 2 carded on the 5th.

In case anyone asks why Cliff Evans and Bill Kelleher are down twice it is because they were playing in a 3 ball team...Bill and Cliff were the "nominated" players in their respective 3 ball teams

Lady Captains news

I have always wanted to do a sky dive and when I had a significant birthday this year and coupled with my captaincy I decided the time was right to achieve something on my bucket list.

So along with my Niece, Nephew and Brother in Law, we went to Salisbury and jumped from 15000ft (2.8 miles) which is the highest altitude that you can jump from in the UK. Once the training was over we took to the skies and when we reached the height we (in tandem) jumped out if the plane, reaching a speed of 125 mph in free fall for one minute was probably the scariest but most exhilarating experience I have ever had and when we were 5000ft from the ground the chute was released and slowing down to a speed of 30 mph we came to the ground. It was amazing.

I self-funded the jump and photos/video therefore all the £1100 raised along with the rest of the funds raised for the Captains Charity this year to Macmillan Cancer Support.

All funds raised will be presented at the AGM

Can you also promote the Charity Golf Day on Friday 11th November,  an 11am shotgun start with one course meal after and presentation, raffle and charity auction. Posters are already up In the clubhouse - it's £100 to enter a 4 ball team or £25 per person if anyone wants to buddy up with others. there is a spreadsheet in the wall in the putting studio, I will be in touch prior to the event to discuss payment, holes may be sponsored for £25

The final fundraising event we are holding is on 2nd December and is a race night, posters will be up ASAP.

Seniors Individual Stableford Qualifier October 18th 2016

Today some 50 players took part with event played over 18 holes.The 2nd was open today and photos will follow soon.

Cliff Evans organised the 2's event and results as follows....Colin Brown and John Kelty both carding a 2 on the 5th

Results as follows:

1st - Dilly Jones - 36 points.

2nd - Dave Palferman - 35 points.

3rd - Tom McGrady - 33 points.

4th - Nigel Harris - 32 points.

5th - Mike Drake - 31 points

6th - Peter Fraser - 30 points (on countback)

7th - Mike Goring - 30 points (countback)


8th - Malcolm Williams - 30 points.



There was much mirth regarding Derek's score mainly started by Don Wraight. Although Derek carded 12 points Don pointed out it should in fact have been 11. This is the lowest score of Derek's 50 year golfing history. Although he had been away from golf for the last 2 weeks due to back problems there was still no excuse!! Don did not play and had a bandaged hand,,,,he indicated he could have bettered Derek's score playing ONE handed....he was probably correct!?

Update on October 2016 events

Dear All
There is a committee meeting following the kitty comp this coming Thursday, October 20th, and there is a long agenda. To give the committee the best chance of starting earlier rather than later, we are swapping the Bonus Ball event currently planned for that day with the Texas Scramble planned for Tuesday, October 25th. So, Thursday the 20th will now be Texas Scramble and Tuesday the 25th will now be Bonus Ball.

"Waltz" Competition. For those not familiar with format please search this site for the rules but it really follows the steps of the waltz dance...1, 2 3 etc

It was nice to be able to welcome John Davis back playing again.

A field of 38 entered into the 2's comp today with only one winner taking the pot on hole 12 our Senior Capt. Nigel Davies getting a  rapturous applause from the members. He is obviously back to his winning ways!!

Of the 48 players competing 44 played in the two's sweep today which was a double rollover. Mr Phil Hughes had a clean sweep being the only one to have a two on hole 5 taking the pot

There was a match today against Upton, which resulted in 5 matches each but in addition 23 players competed in an individual Stableford competition held over 17 holes, the 2nd hole being closed for maintenance.
