MELODY Competition November 27th 2014

On a dull, damp November morning it was the 2nd time we played this format.

Winners were Richard Key, Brian Mercer, Tony Owens and a guest Paul Wallace-Jones with 72

Runners up were Andrew Mitchell, Irwin Elkin, Maelor Davies and Harold Hughes with 72.3

Seniors kitty competition November 25th 9x2 and 9x3

A very cold and damp day saw 48 seniors take part.
Results as follows:-

   1. Ron Roberts, Frank Rodenhurst, Noel Jones & Tony Harcombe  101 points

   2. Stewart Poole, Steve Monk, Colin Brown (Seniors Captain) & Derek Lyon  98 points

   3. Peter Almond, Barry Evans, Irwin Elkin & Cliff Evans  97 points


   Prior to the competition 2 members turned up on the 1st tee wearing these shoes!!

Seniors Yellow Ball Tuesday November 18th 2014

     Competition played with teams of 4 and 2 teams of 3
     Results for teams of 4 are:-

1.      Nigel Davies, Noel Jones, Graham Stokes and Ron Roberts  176 pts 
2.      Mike Hollings, Frank Rodenhurst, Peter Fraser and Harold Hughes  162 points. Frank recorded a gross 72 off a 10 handicap
3.      Reg Taylor, Paul White, Don Wraight and Cliff Evans  160 pts

    Results for teams of 3 are:-

    Winner were Geoff Morris, Irwin Elkin and Mike Kalka with 118pts

     Runners up!!! were Bill Hughes, Tom McGrady and Derek Lyon with 111pts. Derek had a   

     dreadful game even loosing the yellow ball on the 17th. Apologies to his team.

Seniors Greensomes Stroke play November 13th 2014

   Greensomes strokeplay, played off 50% of combined handicap.
1st. Tony Jackson and Peter Lynch      84 - 17 = 67
2nd. Irwin Elkin and Phil Morris           91-23.5 = 67.5
3rd. John Kelty and Dave Jones          87 - 19 = 68
4th. Ron Roberts and Ernie Williams    80 - 11.5 = 68.5

Ken Lawrence Memorial Trophy November 11th 2014

Despite the bad weather we had a large turnout to play in this memorable event.
It rained for most of the morning but that did not prevent those competing from enjoying the competition which was in memory of Ken Lawrence, a past Seniors Captain and a much missed member of the Seniors Section. After the event Colin Brown, the present Seniors Captain introduced Ken's Widow Shirley who presented the winner with the Trophy along with 2 of Kens daughters Cathy and Sandra. The Trophy was composed of a plinth on which was "the golf ball" which Ken used when he once had a hole in one.
The winner of the event this year was Don Wraight with 37 points with the following runners up each with 36 points:- John Kelty, Paul White and Ron Roberts. Two players carded "2s" namely Neil Sanger and Phil Morris. Neil putted in from off the temporary green on the 2nd after rebounding into the hole from Derek Lyon's ball!
The raffle was well supported by members bringing in a variety of bottles for which we are most grateful.  Nigel Davies was particularly pleased as he won 2 prizes!

We took £239 for the The Royal British Legion - The Royal British Legion.
