Week ending July 9th 2011

On Tuesday July 5th the Seniors Kitty competition was run by Andrew Mitchell, results below, whilst some 32 Seniors played in a Seniors Open at http://www.ruthinpwllglasgc.co.uk/  What a fine course and the day was good apart from some heavy showers for about 6 holes. Dave Lambert and Noel Jones did really well coming in with 47 points. Format was pairs betterball off 7/8 handicaps!!

Winners. Dave Lambert and Noel Jones from Clays with 47 points

2^nd (on the back 6 holes) Mike Carding and Don Wright from Clays 44 points

3^rd Maelor Davies and Tony Jackson also from Clays, 44 points.

Nearest the pin, second shot on the par 4 4^th or 13^th green I Elkin from Clays

Nearest the pin on the par 3 7^th or 16^th green Wal Browett from Ruthin/ Pwllglas

Birdie 2’s on the par 3,s

There were 14 2’s by :-

Steve Gibbons with 2 2’s

Brian Proudfoot, John Brooks, John E. Jones, Len Padmore, Wal Browett and John Hughes, all from Ruthin/Pwllglas

And Mike Hollings, Bill Kellecher, Colin Jones and Ray Jones from Clays

And Colin Edwards and Arwel Morris from Wrexham.

The Kitty Competition on July 5th was an individual stableford off full handicaps with results as below:-
1. Andrew Mitchell  40pts
2. Peter Almond 39pts
3. Cliff Davies  38pts

Thursday July 7th Kitty competition was again an individual stableford..
1. Cliff Davies  40pts
2. Bill Duncan 40pts on countback
3. Reg Taylor 37pts

Seniors team played away vs Ellesmere Port. For some reason they did not play matchplay as is the norm
