Stroke allowances for 9 hole Stableford competitions via Fred April 27th 2017

To avoid discussion/confusion over formula, here is my calculation of “stoke allowances” for 9-hole Stableford competition.

Please note your allowance is not necessarily 50% of your 18 hole Congu Handicap.

9-hole competition will start shortly on Friday evenings with Management and also available on the same day as the June Senior Medal

Pairs Stableford April 27th 2017

There were 3 matches played in the singles knockout, and this, together with the forecast of poor weather all morning, kept numbers playing in the kitty competition down to 24. The competition was a Pairs Stableford, with both scores counting at every hole, and so 12 pairs participated.

 Results were:
1st - Ernie Williams and Bob Jarvis, with 69 points.

2nd - Keith Jones and Bob Brown, with 62 points.


3rd - Richard Key and Graham Stokes with 61 points (on countback).

23 players entered the 2's competition which was won by Club President Bob Brown with the only 2 of the day on the 5th.

Texas scramble April 13th 2017

44 players competed today in a Texas Scramble over all 18 holes. Results were:

1st - Diane Dare, Ron Roberts, Brian Downes and Malcolm Williams with a score of 66 - 7.2 = 58.8

2nd - Tom McGrady, Paul White, Bill Parry and Steve Monk with 68 - 7.4 = 60.6


3rd - Don Wraight, Chris Jacques, Fred Court and Colin Brown with 67 - 6.1 = 60.9.

Pairs betterball April 11th 2017

It was a very warm and sunny day and 46 Seniors played. 42 entered the 2's competition.

There were some excellent scores despite many of the greens having been sanded which made putting something of a lottery...but not to all!

Farewell to Katrina (Clays Catering Manager) on April 7th and presentation from the Seniors by Nigel Davies

On April 7th Katrina, Clays catering manager left the club and the Seniors Section had a collection for her in recognition of all she had done for us. Nigel Davies, Seniors Captain presented her with a bouquet of flowers plus a voucher for Next. Thankyou Katrina.

A story about Andrew Mitchells escapade on the 8th hole on April 7th 2017

The story and photos kindly supplied by Tom McGrady......

The photos show where Andrew Mitchell's drive finished on the 8th hole, it was impossible to get the ball any closer to the oak tree half way down the fairway.

Andrew played out to the middle of the fairway, his next shot finished on the green and he two putted to finish with a five!!!
