On the same day those not in the above played in a match vs Old Padeswood Seniors and Clays won  by 6 matches to 3. There was only one 2 during the match that of Cledwyn Griffiths (handicap 17) of Old Padeswood who had a 2 on the par 4 13th hole. He holed out with a pitching wedge following his drive. Nice one!
The apres match meal was excellent

On the same day August 13th a large number of Seniors travelled to Pryors Hayes Golf Club to compete in their Seniors Open

Clays Seniors Open August 15th 2013

The event attracted a large number of competitors form several locals Clubs including Ruthin Pwllglas, Abergele, Wrexham, Henlle and Porthmadog

 

The results were as follows

Eight  2's were carded as follows. Peter Fraser, Irwin Elkin, Keith Jones and Colin Brown (Clays Seniors Captain) Ken Davies (Wrexham) Alan Foster, Tudor Davies and John Wilson (Ruthin/ Pwllglas)

Nearest the Pin 12th Keith Jones, (74 cm) Straightest Drive on the 10th Ken Wright

Below Seniors Captain driving off the 18th. He indicated he was going for the green! Well he cleared the trees and ended up near the far bunker leaving him a chip onto the green. He missed his birdie putt and managed a 4. If he and Derek had not blobbed the 6th (Colin 4 putting the 6th) and 7th they may well have been in the winners!!

 

 

 

 

Seniors Open August 13th Pryors Hayes

As usual a very large contingent of Clays Seniors participated.

Some photos taken on the day below: Some very picturesque holes and the short par 3 below was no exception. Difficult club selection to ensure one carried the pond and avoided bunkers!!

 

Below Ron Roberts drove very near to the flag on this par 3 but missed his birdie putt, so seen putting for his 3 whilst Ernie Williams eyes up his putt.

 

 

Below another view of the stroke index 4 par 3. Long carry over a pond an trees. Derek decided to lay up with 8 iron and then hit green with another 8 iron before sinking his putt for a 3...and he had a shot as well!!

Seniors Kitty competition August 8^th. Stableford teams of 4 and some of 3. Format is best 2 scores on front 9 and best 3 scores on back 9

The winners of team with 3 members was Dave Jones, Jim Murphy and Mike Turner with 87 points

Stuart Miles had an ace on 12th hole during Ladies vs Seniors match on July 31st 2013

Stuart Miles managed to card his first "ace" of his golfing career at the 12th hole using a rescue club.
Excellent result and the proud Stuart below.

A miracle at Rhuddlan Seniors Open July 25th 2013!!

Here is some truly miraculous  news  from the Seniors Open at Rhuddlan! 

At last the truth can not only be told but 100% confirmed…. Mike Turner CAN walk on water, as witnessed by Tom McGrady, Stewart Poole and Rodney Evans. The  photos below along with a video also provide conclusive proof.

 

All 4 were playing the 11^th at Rhuddlan when a wayward shot went into the pond. The photos show Mike  a good yard IN THE HAZZARD and he then plays his shot as if it was something that he did all day… unbelievable, and he did not need to take a drop shot!!!

 

No wonder Tom and Stuart went downhill from there!

Details of his 2 on the 7th at Clays on Wednesday this week.

Playing with Peter Almond in the Seniors Singles KO Comp. Off the white tee hit a 244 yard drive down the middle and holed the second with a 176 yard shot using a Cobra rescue club. After a short search in the hedge behind the hole ball finally discovered by Peter.
